Competition News - Barcelona and Haarlem
Godington Barcelona and Godington
Haarlem both had a good outing at Weston Park International in the CCI
** event. We were thrilled when both horses completed the tough XC
course with no jumping faults, and even more so at the end of the
competition when Barcelona was rewarded with 11th place, and Haarlem
took the 4th place spot.

Broodmare News - Prettiness
Pr St Prettiness did a good
performance test to be placed 3rd after very little preparation (3
weeks under saddle) and ridden by a rider who has only just turned 16.
The visitors and audience were in awe of her stunning movement. Her
Verband Premium is now confirmed to add to her State Premium and we
look forward to her foal by Hannibal next year

Progeny News - Contis
The first crop of foals by Contis
were a success at the Breed Show. Godington Usayd out of Uppsala was
second in his colt class, behind the spectacular 'Falco' also by
Contis, and the filly Toscana (out of Tallulah) was second in her
class, meaning three out of the four foals qualified for the
championship were by Contis. The visiting Germans were highly impressed
with these representatives of his first crop.

Grading News - Offerte,
Casablanca and Assyria
Offerte and Casablanca represented
the stud at the Annual Breed Show for their grading. Offerte attained
Potential Premium status (subject to a ridden performance test) and
Casablanca graded with good marks. Offerte rose to the occasion
magnificently, Cassie was a little overawed and we expect great things
when she has seen more of the world. Godington Assyria, by Hannibal,
also graded this year.

Competition
News - Contis
Contis continues to go from strength to
strength in his competitive career, and has also now completed the
NASTA stallion performance test, where he gained a Class 1 Elite score. He also
ran very well at Aston le Walls unaffiliated Horse Trials, which we
feel is a good indicator of how he will perform next season when he can
affiliate at this level.

Breeding
News - Trakehner Foal Evaluation
The Trakehner Foal Evaluation held at
Godington was a very successful event, with all breeders receiving
positive feedback on their foals. Contis' first foal crop were
admired by all, and a Hannibal grandson was one of the highest scorers
of the day. We hope everyone enjoyed this occasion as much as we
did!

Competition
News - Godington Haarlem & Barcelona
Both horses competed at Knaptoft
Intermediate on a sweltering day and had good runs. They then
went to Hartpury, where Haarlem got a creditable result well into the
top half of his first 3-star. Barcelona answered all questions
posed with her customary ease, but the 2-star competition was abandoned
after a tragic accident on the XC phase.

Competition
News - Godington Barcelona & Haarlem
Barcelona was the sole Godington
representative at Rolleston, competing in the Intermediate. She
did very well, and followed this up with a good run at Stockland
Lovell, doing a very good dressage and excellent XC. Haarlem got
back into the swing of things at Aston le Walls Advanced after very
little preparation post injury, and did remarkably well.

Competition
News - Godington Haarlem & Barcelona
Both horses competed at Houghton Hall,
where Haarlem did the CCI** and Barcelona completed the CCI*.
Longleat International was the next stop, where Haarlem completed
and finished well in the CIC**, but suffered a stifle injury and so has
had some time out. Barcelona did well over a tough course so we
were very pleased with both horses.

Competition News - Godington Absinthe
Absinthe (Godington Hannibal x
Godington Abyssinia) has made a very promising start to his competition
career under the careful guidance of Izzy Taylor. With a double
clear at his first PN event and three further runs, he is eager for
more challenges and looks a natural across country. If he goes
on like this he is a prospect for le Lion d'Angers next year.
|

|
Competition News - Contis
Contis has started his competition
career with wins and placings at the Trak/Arab event at Warcolag.
In the 4yo event series he has had 3 top 3 dressage scores and at
Berrington Hall he was 2nd overall (by 1 penalty!) to qualify for the
Finals. All this adds onto the BD points that he has gained this
season. Contis will do his Stallion Performance Test in August.

Breeding News
After a smooth foaling season, we
have been busy getting the mares covered for next year. We have four
due to Contis, and our three new mares are in foal to Hannibal: Offerte
(King Arthur/Option), Casablanca (Hoftaenzer/Costa Rica) and St Pr
Prettiness (Van Deyk/Pretty Lady). We're all very excited at
these new bloodlines, and are looking forward to 2009.

Breeding news - 2008 Foals
Our 2008 foals are
all safely on the ground - Asfodel by Contis out of Godington
Alaska, Usayd is Contis/Godington Uppsala, and the only filly
Toscana is Contis/Godington Tallulah. We are extremely pleased
with the first foals from Contis. Not to be outdone by the
newcomer, Hannibal had a beautiful spotted colt from a visiting mare
who returned to foal down with us.

Competition News -
Godington Haarlem
Haarlem has continued the season
with good Intermediate results at Hambleden and Aston le Walls, after
the six week weather break following his placing at Isleham at the
first event of the year. He has also completed his first Advanced
event, following in the footsteps of his full brother Godington
Hannibal, and is aimed at Houghton International CCI**.
|
 |
Competition News - Godington Barcelona
Barcelona has made a satisfactory
start to the season, with good runs at Isleham IN, and Hambleden,
Withington and Aston le Walls Intermediates. She is proving
herself to be very bold across country, and we hold great hope for her
in the future. She will be aimed at Houghton International CCI*
at the end of May, and Longleat International in mid June.
